C~ 3 <br /> <br />CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE <br />A PATROL OFFICER <br /> <br />By: - Givonna Reed Kone,Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At its June 10, 2008 meeting, City Council directed staff to fill the Patrol Officer position as part <br />of a proposed staffing plan for the Police Department. <br /> <br />An internal recruitment process was conducted to fill the Patrol Officer position and staff received <br />one application. The individual was interviewed and staff is recommending that Drew Moldenhauer <br />be hired as the City's new Patrol Officer. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff is recommending that the Personnel Committee recommend Drew Moldenhauer for the Patrol <br />Officer position. Mr. Moldenhauer successfully completed the required background checks when he <br />was appointed to temporarily appointed to serve as Patrol Officer last fall. With City Council approval, <br />Mr. Moldenhauer's start date will be July 1,2008 and his starting wage willbe $20.82 per hour. <br />Mr. Moldenhauer will be subject to a one-year probationary period and all other personnel policies will <br />apply normally. <br /> <br />Funding Source <br /> <br />This position is included in the 2008 General Fund Budget as approved by the City Council in <br />December 2007. <br /> <br />Committee Action <br /> <br />Make a motion recommending that the City Council hire DrewMoldenhauer as a new <br />Patrol Officer at an hourly rate of$20.82, effective July 1,2008.
