The Fire Inspector will be required to be directly involved in 4 <br />of the 6 strategic goals identified by council; <br />Goal #1: (Complete Build -out of Town Center) <br />The Fire Inspector has and will continue to participate as a <br />critical and essential role in both the Town Centers <br />commercial and residential components This position is <br />involved during the Iife of all developments. First <br />commercial /industrial: <br />o Initial design review: reviewing plans for designated use <br />of any commercial property and assure required fire <br />code/equipment/systems are planned for, Verify /assure <br />emergency access routes are part of design. Research <br />and consult with Fire Chief on any code issues needing <br />detailed information, <br />o Plan Review: review all plans for adherence to the 2007 <br />Minnesota State Fire Code emphasizing life safety <br />equipment and systems for both staff, customers and <br />public. Make revisions as necessary. <br />o Construction stage: visit site periodically to perform <br />mandatory inspections of required permits, including <br />testing on fire systems. Along with Fire Chief, work with <br />project manager to resolve any code issues as they <br />arise. <br />o Certificate of Occupancy: prior to building being <br />determined open for occupancy, verify all components <br />of fire code have been accepted and resolved. <br />o On -going Fire Code Inspections: periodically schedule <br />code inspections of each facility to assess fire code <br />compliance. Conduct corrective action process as <br />necessary. <br />o Public Education: assist businesses with education of <br />staff on evacuation and Iife safety issues unique to the <br />facility and type of business. <br />Residential: <br />o Design Review: Assure basic design incorporates all <br />necessary Iife safety components <br />
