Voting No: None. . <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Strommen, to approve the <br />Development Agreement for Knoll Properties Addition. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked how long this company has been in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked Mr. Knoll to share a little about the company. <br /> <br />Mr. Knoll stated that they have been in Ramsey since 2000 and are a contract manufacturer, <br />which means they build equipment for other manufacturers. He stated that they are a metal <br />fabrication company and specia,lize in stainless steel. <br /> <br />Case #4: <br /> <br />Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Exceed Accessory Structure Space <br />Restrictions; Case of Ronald and Sandy Borell <br /> <br />Management Intern Gladhill stated that the applicant has applied for a CUP because they would <br />like to build an accessory space that would be over the total 2,200 sq. ft. allowed. He stated that <br />the applicants have 2.3 acres and are located in an R-l area. They would like to build a structure <br />that would match their existing home and house their boat, a camper and a Model A. He stated <br />that staff is working on a proposal to increase the allowable square footage for a lot this size an <br />additional 200 sq. ft., however, this applicant would still exceed that amount. He stated that the <br />Planning Commission discussed this issue on June 5, 2008 and recommended approval for a 570 <br />sq. ft. overage. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the City has been trying to get residents to store more things inside and <br />out of sight of their neighbors, so he feels this is a good idea especially because it will match the <br />existing home. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked about the policy that limits the size of accessory buildings and if <br />the Council approved CUPs every time for larger buildings. <br /> <br />Management Intern Gladhill stated that the City Code states that you can go over the maximum <br />2,200 sq. ft. but it needs Council approval. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he thinks the City has this policy because it makes citizens aware of <br />what somebody is doing. He stated that by having the public hearing, neighbors get an <br />opportunity to give feedback. <br /> <br />Management Intern Gladhill stated that the public hearing was held at the Planning Commission <br />meeting and there were no comments from neighbors. <br /> <br />City Council / June 24, 2008 <br />Page 7 of 17 <br />
