CASE # <br />REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS <br />By: Public Works Staff <br />Background: <br />The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 and discussed the following seven <br />cases:. <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br />There was none. <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br />Motion to approve the agenda as submitted. <br />Case #1 Consider Authorization to Expand Municipal Center Conference Room <br />Background: <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated. that Building Maintenance Supervisor Bray had gotten a quote <br />for construction of a mid-sized meeting room because at times the Council needs to bump people <br />from the .Alexander Ramsey room and there isn't another medium sized room for them to"use. <br />The quote proposed that the original window frames be re-used and the carpet tiles be taken up <br />and used as replacement carpet for the Alexander Ramsey room and new carpet installed. The <br />HVAC, electrical and furniture expenses will be .the highest cost. Staff is proposing that the <br />Itasca Room be expanded to allow seating for 32-40 people and expects this project to be <br />approximately $23,000. The funding source from the original bonding project is available in the <br />Building fund to cover the cost of the conference room expansion. <br />Motion to recommend to City Council to direct staff to acquire competitive bids to .compare <br />costs and to research the usage of meeting rooms, including Fire 1. <br />Action <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br />Case #2 Consider Request for Stop or Yield Sign at the Intersection of Hedgehog <br />Street and-155th Lane <br />Background: <br />Recently, the City received a petition from residents requesting either a stop sign or a yield sign <br />be placed at this intersection.. Staff has reviewed the accident history, traffic counts and sight <br />-1 17- <br />
