Council Business Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting back to order at 7:56 p.m. Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Dehen, to adopt Resolution #08- 09-184 Adopting Assessments for Past-Due Charges on Municipal Utility Bills (which may include water, sewer, street, lighting, recycling, storm water charges and penalties incurred and Current Services Rendered. Motion carried. V oting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Dehen, Elvig, Jeffrey, Look, Olson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. Case #2: Public Hearing and Levy of Special Assessments for the 2008 Street Maintenance Program Mayor Gamec closed the regular portion of the City Council meeting at 7:58 p.m. in order to conduct a public hearing. Public Hearing Mayor Gamec called the public hearing to order at 7:58 p.m. Presentation City Engineer Jankowski stated that the City began sending notices in early 2008, informing people of anticipated costs associated with the annual street maintenance program. He noted that an informational meeting was held on March 6, 2008, and a public hearing on March 11, 2008. He stated that the work has been completed and final costs tabulated which is why the City is holding a public hearing tonight, before the City passes on the assessments for that work. He stated that the cost of this work is assessed 50% to the general fund and 50% to benefiting property owners. He stated that the City used to do have this same program for sealcoating, however the City is phasing this out over a 7-year period. Councilmember Elvig left the Council Chambers at 7:59 p.m. City Engineer Jankowski stated that the actual costs are slightly higher than the estimates, except for one project, and this is primarily due to the oil price increase.
