<br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Public Hearing: Consider Increasing Off-Sale Intoxicating Liquor License <br />Fee <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Elvig closed the regular portion of the City Council meeting at 7:12 p.m. in order <br />to conduct a public hearing. <br /> <br />Public Hearin2 <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Elvig called the public hearing to order at 7:12 p.m. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that in 2007 the State increased the amount that cities <br />could charge for off-sale liquor license from $200 to $380. She stated that staff is asking <br />Council to approve an additional fee of $290 for 2009/2010 and $380 for 2010/2011. She stated <br />that if licensees utilize electronic age verification and educational requirements, they would be <br />elig-lble to get some of the money back. <br /> <br />, Citizen InDut <br /> <br />Jeff Wise, owner of Wise Choice Liquor, stated that he thinks it is vague on what the City and <br />State is actually doing. He stated that his system has the ability to punch an age verification <br />button and staff manually enters a birth date, but he is not sure if that will meet the requirements <br />to be eligible for a refund. He stated that he also would like to know if the training is something <br />that they will have to pay for. <br /> <br />. Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that the State Statute language is vague, but staff <br />believes the City training would fulfill that requirement through the State, but she does not have <br />an absolute answer on that because she has not heard back from the State. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Look, to closy the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Jeffrey, Look, Dehen, Elvig, Olson, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Gamec <br /> <br />The public hearing was closed at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Elvig called the regular City Council meeting back to order at 7:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Councilmember Look stated that he understands this as an increased fee and people can apply for <br />the age verification software, which costs additional money, but asked if there have been <br />increased cost to the City, which is why the City needs to increase the fees. <br /> <br />City Council October 28, 2008 <br />Page 6 of 20 <br />
