<br />Mr. Peterson suggested that they could give the exact ticket sales, in advance, to the City so they <br />would know how big the crowd is getting and can put a ceiling on it. He stated that they <br />originally proposed 5% of the net profit go to the City, but he would like to say that 10% of the <br />net profit of the overall show, including concessions, sports kiosks, sponsorship, and gate ticket <br />sales go to the City. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked about the possibility of parking at Armstrong Ranch. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that anyone within hearing distance can have free tickets. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that he thinks the parking issue can be easily taken care of within <br />the Town Center area. <br /> <br />CouncilmemberOlson stated that at their Party in the Park, the headliner opened and a big storm <br />came. She stated that her question is how that will be handled with the amount of people that <br />they are expecting, now that she has gone through it. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that they will sell rain or shine tickets. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson stated that her concern is about safety. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way stated that the weather will need to be monitored and a decision would have to <br />be made earlier since people would need to be shuttled back to their vehicles. He reiterated that <br />there are a lot of issues to consider. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson suggested that there also be some temporary fencing put up around <br />the park. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that he would like to have a perimeter of security guards or police because <br />fencing would be very expensive. He stated that all of these issues could be attuned to what the <br />ticket sales are ahead of time. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look stated that Central Park is saturated with housing and there will be <br />complaints. He stated that he thinks the venues out near Town Center would be more <br />appropriate, such as 01' Skool or Jim Deal's property. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that he would like to see things concentrated in the Town Center <br />also. He asked if there could be grass put in in time. He stated that he likes the idea of the City <br />being involved in a project like this, but he isn't sure if Central Park is the right venue. He stated <br />that he would like staff to take a look at other areas that may have less logistical issues. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that the park has 93 acres and asked if the other venue the Council <br />mentioned had the same amount of available land. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that the park has only 40 acres. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that there are 280 days from tonight, to package a big show. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session I October 21,2008 <br />Page 4 of 11 <br />
