He stated that there <br />were. some things that were somehow hidden in the' computer system. . <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich clarified that the 70 violations brought to the hearing were dealing. with <br />APS records from July 2007 forward. He stated that he is unsure' about the re-pawn business' <br />information being shared tonight. He stated that there are different categories of violationsJ such <br />as missing daily transactions and in one case there was .a hunting bow brought in which showed . <br />up on E-bay the' next day. He stated that there was no transaction record sJ;1own and the actual <br />owner of the bow came in and, said that he saw 'it on E-bay. He stated that this is what the APS <br />system is designed for trying to uncover. . , <br /> <br />Mr. Jerdin stated that this item was in the system and was supposed to be held for 30 daysJ but <br />the person helping him with E-bay listings, listed. it the day afterJ which he admits was a mistake. . <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if the City was able. to say that the p~oducts referred to in the violationsJ. . <br />came in while Mr. Jerdin was the owner. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich stated that he is unsure, but there have been significant violations while <br />Mr. Jerdin was been in control of the business. <br /> <br />Mr. Jerdin stat~d that all the violationS in question were during his ,ownership, but some were <br />created from the previous owner. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated thathe has been in the retail business fQr 25 years. He asked if Mr. Jerdin <br />had entered everything from the store into the system as inventory and whether this is where the <br />violations came from or whether ,it is from items that came in while he was there. <br /> <br />Mr. Jerdiri stated that it wasn't items that created the error, but the computer entering process. ' <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that she assumes this software is a universal software among <br />pawnshops and asked why this isn't a bigger issue across the board. She'stated that if there were <br />only a few violations, she would understand because there is a learning curve, but this is <br />numerous violations in various parts of the .City Code. She stated that the Police Department ha~ <br />worked with him and.informed him cifthe violations. She stated that she wants to give him the <br />. . benefit of the doubt, but wonders how long you give someone, esp'eciaUy in this business, where <br />it requires detailed information being entered into a computer system. She stated that this is the <br />responsibility of~s business and not that of the law enforcement to "hand hold" the entire way. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if the computer system was completely up to date. <br /> <br />Mr. Jerdin stated that it was up to date. <br /> <br />.
