Sethi r\ a. 03 Uto,Subd. 3. Public Safety Board. The primary objective of the Public Safety <br />Board is to review administrative and /or operational matters relative to public safety and to <br />advise the City Council of policy matters relevant to the public safety functions in Ramsey, The <br />duties of the Public Safety Board shall be to: <br />—140— <br />a, Provide administrative advice to the Fire Chief and Police Chief, promote <br />communication within the Fire Department and the Police Department and <br />between the two departments and other community leaders, <br />b. Advise the City Council in the selection of the Fire Chief and Police Chief. <br />c. Review operations of the Fire Department and Police Department and <br />advise the Fire Chief and Police Chief in determining possible areas of <br />improvements. <br />d. Review and advise regarding rules and regulations for the Fire Department <br />and Police Department. <br />Subd. 5. Board of and Appeals. The primary objective of the <br />Board of Adjustments and Appeals to review and approve /deny variances from the provisions of <br />the Zoning Chapter of the City Code where there is strict enforcement would cause undue <br />hardship because of circumstances unique to the individual property under consideration, The <br />Planning and Zoning Commission shall serve as the Board of Adjustment and Appeals. <br />Subd. 6. Board of Appeals and Adjustments /Official Maps. <br />a. Objective. The primary . objective of the Board of Appeals and <br />Adjustments /Official Maps is to consider appeals by owners of land who <br />have been denied a land use permit, zoning permit, approval for a building <br />on land or any other City action taken pursuant to City Code Section <br />9.20.32 entitled "Official Map" which may affect the landowner's land. <br />The appeal procedures shall be pursuant to Minn. Stat. 462.359 and City <br />Code Section 920.32. <br />b. Membership and Term of Office. Notwithstanding Subsection 2,03.02, <br />Subd. 3. there shall be five `(5) members of the Board of Appeals and <br />Adjustments /Official Maps who shall be appointed by the City's Mayor <br />for staggered four year terms. At least one of the members shall be a <br />current member of the Planning Commission. All other terms of Section <br />2.03 shall be applicable to the Board of Appeals and Adjustments /Official <br />Maps, <br />• Subd. 7. Environmental Quality Board.
