supplemental insurance plan that will be made available to the f'n'e fighters at their own expense, the
Department feels the proposed Hartford plan will adequately protect them at a low cost to the City.

Councilmember Hardin also noted that with this plan the overall disability benefits to the fire
fighters will be from Worker's Compensation, from this proposed plan, and from their own
optional supplemental plan which they would pay themselves. The Worker's Compensation Issue
has been resolved as Worker's Comp has increased the average number of work week hours for
Ramsey Fire Fighters. The Hartford plan is based on the number of apparatus in the Fire
Department.

Ms. McAloney noted the City Council would only approve the expenditure of the $615.00 for one
year to the Fire Fighters' Relief Association. The Fire Department would make the decision as to
which disability plan is purchased and would provide the City with the documentation of coverage.

Motion by Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to approve the
disbursement of up to $615.00 to the Fire Fighters' Relief Association General fund as a one-year
premium for additional coverage that they are requesting at this time for 1991 for disability and
accidental death and dismemberment coverage.

Motion carried.
