<br />that at the end of this meeting, staff would be recommending that Mr. Jerdin's license be <br />revoked. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked Mr. Sliderman for an opening statement. <br /> <br />Mr. Sliderman stated that because they requested a continuance they would not be giving an <br />opening statement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen swore in the three witnesses: Police Chief James Way, Police <br />Technician Jo1een Wiemann, and Officer Jeff Katers. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich called Police Chief Way as his first witness. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way stated that he resides at 16851 Helium Street, Ramsey, MN and has been <br />employed by City of Ramsey as Police Chief for 6 years. He stated that enforcement of <br />pawnbroker's licenses in the City is part of his duties. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich produced Exhibit 1A and asked Police Chief Way to identify it. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way stated that it is a certified copy of the Ralph's Gun and Pawn license #612. <br /> <br />Mr. Sliderman stated that they object to all documents presented, under these circumstances, <br />since they have not had adequate chance to do due diligence. He stated that his client has <br />questioned the authenticity of the document because Mr. Jerdin has indicated that he has never <br />received this document. <br /> <br />Counci1member Dehen stated that the Council would accept the Exhibit 1A. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich distributed a copy of the letter that was hand delivered to Mr. Jerdin, <br />Exhibit lB. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way confirmed that it was hand-delivered on November 6, 2008 to the pawnshop. <br /> <br />Mr. Sliderman stated that in addition to objecting to the entire hearing, his client never received <br />the tickets noted in the letter and so the authenticity of the data is questionable. <br /> <br />Counci1member Dehen stated that his objection is noted and admitted Exhibit 1B into evidence. <br />He gave Mr. Sliderman the option of asking questions of Police Chief Way. <br /> <br />Mr. Sliderman reiterated that he would like to be able to recall this witness at a later hearing. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked if the letter was hand delivered to Mr. Jerdin. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way stated that he believes Officer Moldenhauer delivered it to Mr. Jerdin, <br />personally.
