She explained this product is purchased off of the state bid contract. It <br />would be her recommendation not to go through a huge bidding process for furniture, because the <br />price received will not be much better than through the state contract, which is 70 percent off of <br />retail. Her intent would be to determine an analysis of the furniture in house and what makes <br />sense. She explained there could be logistical issues involved with moving the furniture to the <br />new City Hall. She explained the plan is not to completely outfit the building, only to provide <br />what is needed upon the move. <br /> <br />Ms. Badinger indicated the estimate provided for furnishings included some new furniture and <br />r~using some of the existing furniture. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook suggested the Public Works Department, which is being enlarged, may be <br />able to utilize the furniture. <br /> <br />Ms. Badinger reviewed the design development estimate for the Ramsey Municipal Center with <br />the Council in the areas of technology, contingency, and financing costs. She indicated that the <br />adjusted design development project budget total at this time is at $16,316,659, which is $70,230 <br />over budget. She requested direction from the Council regarding the following possible <br />additions to the design: <br /> <br />Build Out of the Detention Area <br />Police Chief Way explained this is not a jail and the City will not be holding prisoners for any <br />length of time. This detention area would enable the Police Department to conduct interviews on <br />site. It would eliminate a lot of traveling to Lino Lakes for interviews and evidence. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson explained the detention area has been designed so that in the <br />future it could be reconfigured to a holding area. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec commented the detention area is important just from the time that would be saved. <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson stated he was just to a joint law enforcement meeting, and in his <br />opinion this is something the City needs. The concern of all the county officers was the time <br />spent traveling people back and forth. He thinks this detention area would pay for itself. <br /> <br />The consensus of the Council was to include the build out of the detention area as a base bid, as <br />well as a deduct alternate. <br /> <br />Perimeter Fence East & South of Police Parkin)! <br />Ted Redmond of BKV Group reviewed with the Council the options of a four foot high wrought <br />iron steel fence, a six foot high wrought iron steel fence and a four foot high low dry stack stone <br />wall. After discussion, the Council reduced the options to a four foot high wrought iron steel <br />fence and a four foot high low dry stack stone wall.
