PROS OF 142 AVENUE CLOSURE
1. Less traffic means less stress on our road, means less road work. We
have more traffic than a normal neighborhood street. There have been
semis through our neighborhood on our street cutting through, thus,
causing more stress on our roads.
2. Since we do not have street lights, we would not have strangers in our
neighborhood casing houses. There was an incident last April where
someone pulled into my driveway with lights out and when I turned on
my house lights, they took off.
3. We would not have the speeding vehicles through the neighborhood with
no regard for the safety of our neighborhood. We have way too many
little children around here that we need to worry about their safety.
Especially after the high school gets out and plays bumper tag through
our neighborhood.
What is 5 minutes out of your life to go around when it means a safer
neighborhood for us. Think about it before you decide you DON'T want 142
Avenue closed.
Some suggestions to avoid the excessive traffic would be:
1. No left tum signs into neighborhood area at peak hours, i.e. 3 -6 p.m.
weekdays, since the worst time is after the high school gets out. Also, up
at the other end on Dysprosium no left tum to get to cut through
neighborhood to cut to 47.
2. Put speed humps through the neighborhood to slow `vehicles down. Put
stop signs to alleviate the speeding.
Right now with winter it may not be bad, but wait until spring and summer,
especially when the kids are out of school. We have teenagers coming through
here and when we have little kids playing, we should not have to worry about if
the kids from our neighborhood are going to be hit by a careless speeding driver
that is cutting through just to avoid the lights at 5.
