He presented a graphic depiction of the area. ~nd noted the park
dedication monies derived from the previous subdivision would go to Sunfish Lake Park. He
stated it is important to note that for many years, the City has done a comprehensive job of.
involving residents in planning for parks and this plan is the culmination of three different
concept plans. He stated the second highest request from residents was for interpretive facilities
and to leave the park in as natural a state as possible. He indicated that staff developed a
partnership with the community college to develop interpretive signage for the park.

Mayor Ramsey recessed the City Council meeting at 9:54 p.m.

The City Council meeting reconvened at 9:58 p.m.

Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated the costs associated with the park plan come from the park
trust fund balance and noted that if the Council chooses to obtain bids for the project, the Council
will receive further detail regarding costs at a future meeting. He noted staff would like to go
out for bids now because staff is seeing very competitive quotes. He explained the park element
is shown with all costs estimated at $348,000 and this corresponds with the estimate prepared
within the Parks Capital Improvement Program. He stated the trail elements, going from
Sunwood Drive, are shown at $86,000 and this corresponds with a number of different trail
projects shown in the 2009 CIP plan. He added this fits within the estimated project estimates
shown in CIP and bids, when sent, would be structured so the City can pick and choose which
tasks it will perform, such as grubbing stumps or rough grading for the trail, and staff anticipates
a minimum $29,000 additional savings if it can incorporate certain things within the work plan.

City Council / January 27, 2009
Page 17 of20
