<br />Public Works Director Olson stated that there will be the same level because it will just refocus <br />employee time. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that instead of cutting the Commissioner Appreciation Dinner and <br />giving a gift card, he would rather give a smaller dinner and just skip the entertainment. He asks <br />how much the dinner ends up costing compared to giving $25 gift cards to everyone. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that it ends up about $35 per plate and there are <br />generally around 100 people there. <br /> <br />Councilmeniber Jeffrey stated that he would rather bring them together for a dinner to give them <br />recognition because he feels there is value in just getting them together. He reiterated that he <br />would rather have a toned down dinner. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig asked about the possibility of a potluck dinner here at the building. He <br />stated that he thinks it sends a great message that the City is trying to be fiscally responsible, but <br />still gets everyone together for an event. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone asked how far $1,500 would go towards another event rather than a <br />gift card. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig suggested that the City could do a potluck and rent a space where liquor <br />could be available. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that there could be appetizers and an open house type of event <br />rather than a dinner. <br /> <br />There was a Consensus by the Council to hold a smaller event rather than sending gift cards to <br />Commissioners. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that for the recommended cut on the TimeSaver minutes, he <br />understands that staff will pick up the rest of the minutes besides Council minutes, but asked if <br />this would incur overtime. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that the details are still being worked out. He stated that there. is <br />the possibility of comp time, having staff put together minutes from the web stream broadcast and <br />also shorter, summary type minutes. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that the intent is not to incur overtime, but it will <br />result in less time in the office during the day. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look asked if there has to be written minutes if the meeting is videotaped. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that he believes so, but he will check. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session / March 3, 2009 <br />Page to oft7 <br />
