<br />Human Resources Manager Kone' suggested that the Council focus on the people who have <br />indicated a high priority for the positions. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the applicants and their listed priorities. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that he thinks the Council can pick the top five for everything but <br />the EDA pretty easily. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Kone' reminded the Council that there will be overlap in the <br />candidates for interviews because candidates have expressed interest in more than one board or <br />commISSIon. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the candidates for EDA and selected their top five choices for interviews. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey asked Human Resources Manager Kone' to figure out the remaining candidates <br />for the other positions and put together a matrix of how the interviews would be designated <br />because of the overlap possibilities. He suggested the interview questions be reviewed. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Kone' stated that there are a standard list of interview questions <br />included in their packet and noted she would like feedback on the questions. She stated that the <br />interviews should only last 10 minutes. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich read aloud the interview questions in the packet. <br /> <br />, Councilmember Elvig asked if candidates see the questions ahead oftime. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Kone' stated that they would not see the questions until the <br />interview. <br /> <br />Councilmember Wise stated that he would like to see people get the questions ahead of time <br />because some of them are kind of tough. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey stated that he would like to see how they operate under pressure. He stated that <br />he would also like a question related to the problem the City has had in the past when boards and <br />commissions have made recommendations and the Council doesn't pass them. He stated that in <br />the past, he feels the boards and commissions have thrown the Council under the bus. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look suggested it be worded: How would they handle it if the Council voted <br />down their best suggestion? <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Kone' stated that the next step is scheduling the interviews and <br />noted she had recommended three possible Wednesday evenings in March. She stated that she <br />thinks the interviews could all be completed in one night, depending on how late they are willing <br />to stay. <br /> <br />The Council chose to sc~edule the interviews on March 25,2009 at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session / March 3, 2009 <br />Page 8 of 17 <br />
