Mayor Ramsey wanted to comment that he did go out and look at this sight and he is in agreement th,lt these safety improvements need to be done. Motion by Mayor Ramsey, seconded by Councilmember McGlone to recommend to City Council that 5ttHf draft a letter to Anoka County Highway Department requesting the following safety improvements to be considered at the intersection of 1 p 1 st Lane and Armstrong Boulev~lrd, Mr. Pat Surma was present and wanted to comment that this where he lives and with the new church coming in it is going to become an extremely busy intersection. He also wanted to add that with 12 new homes going in at the old Gun Club sight he is noticing more people using 161 st. He also mentioned with all the events that happen at the Kennels and Central Park the potential accident rate is high and even though the sight lines are good at this intersection, people just aren't paying attention. Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer Olson responded to this by saying there has been some discussion of this with the planning of the church. Public Works Street Supervisor Grant Riemer responded this year there were only 18, but the reasoning was, later in the season there was considerable ice build up along the curb, which caused the plow wing to go up. Another fact he stated was that some of them may not , have been oamaged by the City at alL When the driver comes upon a damaged mailbox and staff doesn't get out there soon enough to get a picture and the residents reports it as City damaged, we have no proof that we didn't do it, Councilmembel' McGlone wanted it on record that he thinks at some point it should be disc1.1SSed to raise the $75 reimbursement fee to better cover the expense of the mailbox materials.
