n j 47 'Tnili:5p<nli,ili()n AnilIY:;ic;
j:'\.Ibl i<: tvle,:ting C"lnllleI1.V
Pa[p;~ J of 12

changes to help the traffic flow. When this road was redone a few years ago I
immediately contacted MnlDOT and ask what type of positive changes do they think they
made for 6 million. Why didn't they address the TH 47 /CSAH 116 intersection and make
it four-lanes to keep traffic moving?

I am sure you have noticed that TH 47 and CSAH 116 seems to be a major bottle neck
both going to work and trying to get home. There are no alternative routes to take. You
are either backed up on TH 47 by the fairgrounds/railroad tracks, backed up on CSAH
116 or stuck in traffic on TH 10.

J have been commuting on 47 since 1977 since I moved to Ramsey, Since that time I go to
work much earlier arrive later and the same is true on my way home. 1 estimate Ispend
up to 15 minutes additional time each way now on my commute.

Evening traffic on TH 47 before CSAH 116 and on CSAH 116'from CSAH 7 to TH 47 is
very bad. At times it can take 20 min to make that distance.

The number of stoplights around the CSAH 116 area is aproblem. The timing of these
lights and the volume of traffic causes major back ups during rush hour.

TH 47 extremely congested at Bunker Lake Boulevard intersection between 7 a.m. to
7:30 a.m. due to Anoka High School students. There are many accidents on TH 47 the
first two weeks of school, the first couple snow storms, and right after spring break. I
leave for work early during those times to avoid the high school drivers.

Fundine

Now that it has become a huge problem it is finally getting some attention. My fear is that
we will spend a huge amount of time and money studying this problem versus getting the
problems fixed.

The cost of this study and any road improvements should be paid for solely out 6fthe
pockets of the Ramsey City officials for their very poor planning when they over
developed this once beautiful city. '

Funding for any construction should be secured and approved by voter through
referendum, Roadway changes which will be taking land, homes or business must be
discussed openly and fair compensation must be made to owners.

Why are we spending $500 million to take less than 1 % of the traffic off of TH 10 with the
North Star boondoggle subsidizing these privileged riders all the way to Minneapolis.
(We .sure could use that money elsewhere).

Land Use/Zonin~

Work with all cities and townships. No more housing.

Recommend zoning changes new development access at controlled intersections.

TH 47 is horrible in peak hours. The sooner the solution the better. I would suggest
slowing down the development of all the townhouses that put the most people on the
roads. I don't like to see the "up north woods" feel being destroyed! That Is why we
moved out here 3 years ago from Brooklyn Park and we hate to see Ramsey become that

1<: ,(, 1 (i6(1,.(13 '0,:'\ dl'l)i n\\...1t;~:1 i n:J_"'VI.thk Ivh:~ii rl:;:.i)6q~ ,~..I\Cot1'lm~'nh.do(;

P27
