CASE # \0

REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS
By: Public Works Staff

Background:

The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 and discussed the following six
cases:

CITIZEN INPUT

There was none.

APPROVE AGENDA

Motion to approve the agenda as submitted.

Case #1:

Maintenance Expectations for RTC Properties

Background:

This discussion was based on the City trying to tighten its belt and do more with less, and this
maintenance will involve a lot of work and time. Staff noted that what the City is doing with
maintenance of the RTC property is trying to make it look more presentable and thus, more
marketable.

Staff confirmed that the Public Works Committee feels that the 71-acre parcel can be left alone.

Other discussion included if there are things that are pad ready, the City deforest and take down
some of the trees on the site, and suggested they be taken down to 18 inches or so. It was
suggested that Public Works Department follow the recommendations as discussed, and, before
the next meeting, have the Public Works Committee take a look around and see how they think it
looks and if things need to be tweaked.

Action:

No action taken.

Case #2

Consider Amendments to the Topsoil Ordinance

Background:

Staff reviewed the existing ordinance and showed some soil samples.

Motion to recommend to the City Council that the ordinance be amended to reduce the minimum
organic content to 25% and the maximum sand content to 30%.
