<br />Consent e <br /> <br />CONSIDER A RESOLUTION PROMOTING AP ATROL OFFICER TO <br />PATROL/SUPPORT SERVICES SERGEANT <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Sergeant Jeff Katers became the manager of the Anoka County Central Records system in <br />March 2009. For his services, the City receives $50,000 annually. Sgt. Katers spends <br />approximately half of his time working on the records system; therefore, some of his <br />duties had to be transferred to other staff. Some staff are having difficulty managing their <br />original duties plus the additional duties assigned to them. <br /> <br />At a recent City Council meeting, staff was authorized to conduct a recruitment process to <br />promote a patrol officer to patroVsupport services sergeant. This new position will <br />perform some of the duties Sgt. Katers can no longer perform and the position will also <br />serve as a patrol sergeant on the day shift. Some of the duties ofthe patrol/support <br />services sergeant will include managing the schedule, payrolVtimesheets, fleet <br />management and providing supervision to the Community Service Officer and the Crime <br />Prevention Specialist. <br /> <br />Staff conducted a recruitment process and received applications from four employees, all <br />of whom were interviewed. Officer Gary V oit is being recommended for promotion to <br />the patroVsupport services sergeant position. <br /> <br />Funding Source <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey receives $50,000 annually for Sgt Katers' work with Anoka County. <br />Staff proposes that a portion of these funds be used to cover the cost of promoting Officer <br />Voit to patrol/support services sergeant.
