SCOPE OF WORK

IIKGi
Page 32 " Park Design Services

improvements. They will view the Best Practice Examples (images of successful site
design examples of sustainable, engaging sites that match the desires and goals for the
East Meandering Commons Park site) and rank their favorite sites and site features to
be included in the project. We may use hands-on site design tables facilitated by design
team members to delve into greater design detail on a topic of importance to the East
Meandering Commons Park site and to the community. Potential table topics include;
native landscaping, storm water management, public art, and site activities. Community
members will have the opportunity to write, draw or tell the design team about their
ideas for the site and for the design topics. The results of community workshop will help
establish project priorities and inform subsequent design decisions.

3. DEVELOP MASTER PLAN ALTERNATIVES

The HKGi/MSA team will summarize the input received in the Community Workshop and
conduct a Design Charrette with Steering Committee members and city representatives.
The design charrette (intensive hands on design work session) will be used to prepare
initial master plan options for the project site. Charrette participants will work as a team
to identify a draw a range of potential master plan concepts based on community input,
City goals, and the site qualities and possibilities.

The concepts identified at the charrette will be refined into a minimum of three master
plan alternatives. Each alternative will include color illustrative sketch plans, descriptive
text and images of key site features. Circulation, landscaping, stormwater management,
public art, site amenities and structures will be shown. Plan alternatives will incorporate
program elements, design principles and sustainable design initiatives established in earlier
meetings and workshops with City Staff, Steering Committee and the community. It is
anticipated major components of the plans will include an amphitheater, a water feature
that also serves stormwater management needs, a memorial garden and promenade,
public art, trails, sidewalks and bridges, educational/interpretive creation, and passive open
spaces. We will analyze general comparative costs and ease of implementation between
alternative approaches in order to provide the Steering Committee with the information
necessary to make informed decisions regarding a preferred master plan.

Community House

The HKGi/MSA team will organize and conduct a community open house to present
the master plan alternative concepts and receive input from the community regarding
preferred plan options. Open House attendees will be asked to rank master plan options
and note preferred park features. Community preferences will influence the direction for
a preferred master plan.
