Councilmember McGlone stated he was concerned the Commission was considering looking at
the road closure before the Commission had wanted to look at it. He noted the Commission
should wait until February and review the road closure and traffic counts at that time.

Mr. Backus agreed the Commission should wait the year and he would continue to put the barrier
back up if he saw the barriers were down.

Chairperson Elvig stated the consensus of the Commission was to not do anything at this. time
and would look at it again in February.

APPROVE AGENDA

Motion by Councilmember Dehen, seconded by Councilmember McGlone, to approve the
agenda, as presented.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig and Councilmembers Dehen and McGlone.
Voting No: None.

APPROVE MINUTES

Motion by Councilmember Dehen, seconded by Councilmember McGlone, to approve the
minutes from the August 19,2009 Public Works Meeting.

Motion carried. V oting Yes: Chairperson Elvig and Councilmembers Dehen and McGlone.
Voting No: None.

COMMITTEE BUSINESS

Case #1:

Consider Street Name Change for 167th Avenue NW

City Engineer Himmer reviewed the staff report.

Councilmember Dehen asked why the Commission should consider the name change at this
time.

City Engineer Rimmer responded the road was now a continuous loop all of the way down and
the easiest way to allow citizens to remain status quo was to not change the name.

Chairperson Elvig believed until the road went all of the way through, it did not make any sense
to rename the road at this point.

Councilmembers Dehen and McGlone agreed that the request for a name change did not make
sense at this time.

Motion by Councilmember McGlone, seconded by Chairperson Elvig, to recommend to the City
Council that the street naming along the 166th /16th Avenue NW corridor remain unchanged.

'?

Public Works Committee / September 15, 2009
Page 2 of 6
