The City requested that the segments of Alpine Drive from Armstrong Boulevard to TH 47, arid
Sunwood Drive from Ramsey Boulevard to Nowthen Boulevard be studied for appropriate
limits, since such speed limits may be legally posted only after an engineering study has been
conducted by the Commissioner of Transportation. MnDot recently completed field work on the
necessary studies and is seeking City input prior to finalizing their recommendations. Attached to
this case is a sketch of possible speed limits that would achieve the City's goal of making them
are uniform along these two collector streets.

There was some consideration of extending the 45 mile per hour limit along Alpine Drive from
Armstrong Boulevard to Highway 10. This would require raising the limit by five miles per hour,
as it is currently 40 miles per hour. There. was mixed support for this change.

The Committee recommended on a 2 to 1 vote that the City Council endorse the speed limit
modifications as illustrated on the original sketch attached to the case.

Action:

Motion to adopt the recommendation of the Committee.

Case #6

Consider No Parking Zones for Alpine Drive at Skate Park Entrance

Background:

Staff presented this case to discuss enhancing the safety by improving the sight lines between
pedestrians and east bound traffic.
Motion to restrict parking along the north side of Alpine Drive from 153rd Ct. to the west approx.
200' to the common property line, and also to the east approx. 50' - 100' for adequate site
distance. They also wanted to restrict parking on the south side of Alpine Drive out approx. 50'
_ 100' in both directions from the new parking lot entrance at the skate park for better visibility.

Action:

Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

Case #7

Review 2010 Projects

Background:

The following 2010 projects were reviewed with the Committee:

Staff discussed the future Armstrong Boulevard project consisting of signalization at County
Road 116 and Armstrong Boulevard.
