Martin, ASLA

Qualifications for

Ramsey Town Center

Mr. Martin's influence as a landscape architect and urban designer
has shaped many Midwestern communities over the past 30 years.
Consistent among Geoff's award-winning urban redevelopment
plans, streetscapes, and parks is his proven ability to lead cities
through complex planning and design processes to define and
illustrate a vision for their future, to create the tools necessary to
guide redevelopment, and to design built works that build value
over time. His work continues to provide regional models for smart
growth, and placemaking.

Relevant Experience

. MAPLE GROVE, MN - ARBOR LAKES STREETSCAPE & DESIGN GUIDELINES
Bonestroo provided master planning for a new community called
Arbor Lakes that transformed a 2,OOO-acre gravel mine into the
City of Maple Grove's Town Center. Main Street is the focus of the
mixed use town center and links residential, institutional and
commercial uses within walking distance to a series of
interconnected lakes. In addition to the Arbor Lakes Master Plan,
Bonestroo designed the streetscape system and amenities to
define the center's character and provide a framework for
surrounding development.

. BURNSVILLE, MN - HEART OF THE CITY & NICOLLET COMMONS PARK
Geoff, as principal designer and manager, facilitated the
community design process; designed and illustrated the
Framework Plan and Nicollet Commons Park; co-wrote innovative
design guidelines and ordinances that relate building types to
street types, and emphasizes LID practices; produced the design
framework manual; and assisted with Livable Communities Grant
Application, for which the City received $4 million to construct
streets, infrastructure, streetscaping and the park. Nicollet
Commons Park is the focus for cultural activities with an
amphitheater, farmers' market, interactive water features, rain
gardens, and integrated public art and passive recreation space.
Awarded the MASLA Award of Excellence, 2006; MNRPA Award of
Excellence 2005; MnAPA Outstanding Project and Planning Tools
Award, 2001; MASLA Merit Award 2000.

. SAUK RAPIDS, MN - DOWNTOWN FRAMEWORK PLAN & STREETSCAPE
Geoff served as principal designer, project manager, and
facilitator. The City of Sauk Rapids was faced with an impending
relocation of the Mississippi River Bridge which would completely
reshape the existing downtown. As part of the Comprehensive
Planning Process, Bonestroo (then DSU) facilitated a public
process to create a Downtown Design Framework Plan. The plan

;f~ Bonestroo
