Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION # CONSIDER A RESOLUTION ELIMINATING A BUILDING INSPECTIONS POSITION AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT WITH INSPECTRON FOR INSPECTIONS SERVICES WHEREAS, an analysis of building permit data from 2003-2009 has shown a steady decline in activity; and WHEREAS, contracting for building inspection services will allow the city to manage from day to day the number of hours that are needed for building inspections thereby reducing the costs of providing this service to residents and contractors; and WHEREAS, the City Council has weighed the pros and cons of maintaining current staffing levels and entering into a contract for inspections services; and WHEREAS, at the December 1, 2009 Work Session, the City Council agreed by consensus to eliminate the city's remaining building inspector position and enter into a contract for inspections services with Inspectron. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: That the City Council of the City of Ramsey eliminates a building inspector position and that Mr. Steve Lutmer's last day of employment with the city will be January 22,2010. The City Council further authorizes staff to enter into a contract with Inspectron to provide inspections services beginning on or near January 25,2010. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 8th day of December, 2009.
