CASE # 3

2010 ENVIRONMENTAL EXPO
By: Chris Anderson, Environmental Coordinator

Background:

One charge of the Environmental Policy Board is to promote public outreach and education
regarding environmental issues. The Environmental Expo & Tree Sale provides a great
opportunity for the Board to reach out to the community and provide access to meaningful and
educational information. Planning for the 20 I 0 Environmental Expo & Tree Sale will begin
soon and the following components will be considered as part of the planning effort for the
event:
. Exhibitors-identifying companies, agencies, organizations, etc that would be appropriate
to invite to the expo event.
. Seminars/Speakers-identifying relevant environmental topics and potential speakers
and/or presenters.
. Activities-identifying activities and other offerings that will attract and entertain persons
of all ages.
. Advertising--creating awareness for and promoting the expo event through flyers, the
Ramsey Resident newsletter, spots on QCTV, the web site etc.
. Sponsorship-identifying and seeking out businesses/organizations that may have an
interest in getting involved with the event either directly or through donations of some
sort (food, door prizes, etc).

Staff will also be communicating with a couple of tree sale vendors that have historically been
associated with this event to gauge their interest in participating again this year.

EPB Action

Staff is interested in discussing the EPB's involvement in the planning of the expo event. Any
action taken will be based on discussion.

EPB: 12/7/09
