wVeral new housing projects in the Southeast region <br />ere awarded funding through the MinneSota <br />ousing Finance Agencyfs Super RFP (request <br />for proposals) in spring 2003, including: <br /> <br />Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce was awarded <br />$395,000 from Minnesota Housing£inance Agency (MHFA) <br />for the purchase and rehabilitation of three single-family homes <br />that will be sold to families below 80 percent of area median <br />income. <br /> <br />Three Rivers Community Action was awarded financing <br />for a new mixed-use project in Plainview. The neighborhood <br />includes 20 rental units and 30 for-sale units and was financed <br />by First Homes ($300,000 for rental, up to $540,000 for single <br />family), Greater Minnesota Housin9 Fund (GMHF) ($400,000 <br />for rental, $520,000 for single-family interim financing), and <br />MHFA ($683,191 first mortgage and $336,120 9ap funding <br />for rental housing). The City of Plainview has committed tax <br />increment financing (TIF) to the development, <br /> <br />Three Rivers was also awarded financing for Kuzel Lake Park, <br />a Building Better Neighborhoods project in Montgomery that <br />includes a mix of housing types and incomes. The project was <br />awarded $550,000 in construction and gap financin9 from <br />GMHE The City of Montgomery will be providing TIF to the <br />development. <br /> <br />New Richland El)A, with assistance from Southwest <br />Minnesota Housing Partnership, will be developing eight <br />units of rental housing in New Richland. Local employers have <br />contributed $70,000 to the project. Other financing sources <br />include Minnesota Department of Trade and Economic <br />Development (DTED) at $250,000, GMHF at $160,000 and <br />MHFA at $106,618. <br /> <br />Southeast Minnesota Development Corporation <br />received funding from the Small Cities Development Program <br />(federal funding administered in Minnesota by DTED) for the <br />City of Claremont. They received $1,080,500 and will use the <br />funding for wastewater treatment and rehabilitation of 18 <br />single-family homes. Key partners have included GMHF, Rochester <br />Area Foundation, MHFA, Rochester Area Chamber of <br />Commerce, cities, Mayo Clinic Rochester and over 100 local <br />employers. Several hundred more units are planned. <br /> <br />Semcac is currently working on the second phase of Pheasant <br />Run Estates in Grand Meadow, with assistance from Alliant <br />Energy, GMHF, First Homes and the City of Grand Meadow, <br /> <br />Southeast Minnesota Multi-County HRA (SMMCHRA) <br />has been working with the community of St. Charles to identify <br />opportunities for the creation of affordable homes in their <br />community. SEMMCHRA anticipates the South Fork <br />development to offer single-family housing options for a mix <br />of incomes.
