Put MHP Resources to Work

Planning Investments

Concept Support Grants:
(Maximum $500, 1:1 match required). Help during the early
stage of a project when there is no formal consensus to pursue
a development, only an idea and a willingness to fill a
community need. Local governments, church leaders, HRAs,

and tribal or other community-based organizations in Greater
Minnesota may request the assistance. Eligible expenditures
include staff and travel time of an experienced nonprofit
developer that is selected by the community to advise and
explore possibilities for housing projects.

Community Building Grants:
(Maximum $10,000, 1:1 match required). Support either
cross:jurisdiction planning efforts or early predevelopment

activities around a specific housing development oul
seven-county Twin Cities metro area. Eligible activities for
multi:jurisdiction planning include housing needs assessments
and regional planning and facilitation efforts. Eligible activities
for project-specific predevelopment include examination of
suitability of site, generating support and acceptance of
residents, zoning compliance, application preparation, and
planning and facilitation services.

Continuum of Care (CoC)
The CoC is a participatory planning process for the purpose of
coordinating and organizing resources on a regional level to
meet the needs of homeless and near-homeless individuals and
families. The planning process is conducted by a CoC
committee in each of Minnesota:s 13 regions that is responsible
for assembling information about homeless services in the
region, identifying gaps, and developing strategies to fill gaps.
MHP assists six rural CoC committees through planning, clerical
support, and facilitation grants, as well as technical expertise.
This assistance helps the regions qualify for federal
homelessness dollars, facilitate service referrals, and learn
about best practices in CoC planning.

Housing Development Investments

Land Acquisition Loan Account (LaLa):
(Maximum $200,000).
