k, <br />8/19/87 Page 2 <br />CONSIDERATION OF COMMUNICATIONS (Cont.) <br />insurance coverage. <br />Motion was made by Mr. Weaver, seconded by Mr. Raatikka, to request <br />legal counsel to advise the Board as to the need or advisability of hav- <br />ing liability insurance to cover errors or omissions of the Board. All <br />voted yes. Motion carried. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Dean Skallman, Consulting Engineer, reported that work is progressing <br />on the Water Management Plan. The December 23, 1986, draft update was <br />reviewed. Mr. Skallman stated that information was taken from the six <br />cities' Water Management Plans, which has received approval from the <br />Metropolitan Council. <br />Having concurred that the respective City Councils should review and <br />comment on the December 23 draft of the Lower Rum River Watershed Manage- <br />ment Plan, the next meeting of the WMO was set for September 23, 1987, <br />to allow for same. <br />Motion was made by Mr. Weaver, seconded by Mr. Raatikka, to accept <br />the report from the engineering consultant and request the review and <br />comment of this document by the respective city councils. All voted yes. <br />Motion carried. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Mr. Weaver reported that the City of Anoka has had the structure of <br />the Rum River Dam analyzed and has found a need for approximately $3$0,000 <br />to $360,000 worth of immediate repair. While discussing the dam's impact <br />on neighboring communities, Chairman Schrantz suggested there be the pos- <br />sibility of some type of Watershed Management Organization involvement, <br />possibly as applicant, along with the City of Anoka, for grants. It was <br />further suggested that other Watershed Management Organizations be con- <br />tacted for their support, those along the Upper Rum River. Mr. Raatikka <br />recommended that the City of Anoka submit a report to the WMO. <br />Motion was made by Mr. Weaver, seconded by Mr. Raatikka, that the Barr <br />Engineering firm investigate possible grants or avenues of financing for <br />the Rum River Dam project. All voted yes. Motion carried. <br />Acting Public Works Director for the City of Anoka, Ray Schultz, was <br />invited to attend the September WMO meeting for further discussion. <br />There being no further business, motion was made by Mr. Raatikka, <br />seconded by Mr. Weaver, and unanimously carried, that the meeting adjourn. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 a.m. <br />Mava Mikkonen, Secretary <br />
