II. Proposed Improvements and Project Costs Anoka County feels that the proposed improvements to this intersection will result in an increase in intersection safety. The proposed improvements will provide for increased driver reaction time at CR 27 and decrease the probability for crashes related to sight distance. Preliminary cross section drawings in the appendix of this submittal show that without the purchase of additional right of way and significant earthwork, the profile of TH 47 approaching CR 27 can be lowered by 2.50 feet resulting in a vertical profile that meets 55 mph stopping sight distance and increases intersection safety significantly (see plan profile in appendix. The preliminary construction limits can be seen in figure 2 in the appendix of this submittal. The proposed geometrics have maximized the use of the existing pavement, while minimizing the effects on property owners living nearby therefore minimizing construction costs and homeowner concerns. The improvements as shown on the layout included in the appendix, is estimated to be approximately $249,322 for total construction. Anoka County will not participate in the construction costs for the improvements along TH 47 but will provide in- housedesign and construction services. Arioka County is requesting Mn/DOT participation in the amount of $249,322 for construction and $19,946 for engineering and administration for a grand total of $269,268 in the FY2010 Cooperative Agreement Program.
