In explanation, Mr. Dickson stated, while some <br />firms Cover up these charges in different ways, Barr <br />Engineering tries to keep everything above board so the <br />client knows what the exact costs are. xe went on to state <br />Harr Engineering is offering not only the services of one of <br />its employees, but an entire office of experts with a wide <br />diversity of experience. <br />Mr. Beduhn queried the possibility of setting up engineering <br />costs not to exceed a certain amount per meeting. <br />Weaver queried whether the scheduled telephone calls to the <br />Consulting Engineer during each regular meeting is working. <br />Mr. Skallman stated it is fine with him. The only problem is <br />there is always an advantage of having someone at the <br />meetings. Weaver stated maybe when construction picks up the <br />LRRWMO will need its Consulting Engineer in attendance at its <br />monthly meetings more often. <br />Mr. Dickson indicated he will check Barr Engineering files to <br />see if his firm has a contract with other WMOs. They will <br />also send the LRRWMO a clean copy of upcoming rules and <br />regulations. <br />Schrantz stated the LRRWMO will have a simple agreement with <br />which ever firm is chosen to act as its Consulting Engineer. <br />Mr. Beduhn added Barr Engineering has also hired a Water <br />Resources Technician to assist the engineers. This person <br />bills out at a much lower rate. Mr. Dickson confirmed Barr <br />Engineering tries to accommodate its clients at the lowest <br />cost. Their billing rates current run between $30 to $130 <br />per hour. <br />The board expressed its appreciation to Barr Engineering <br />representatives for expressing an interest in continuing as <br />the LRRWMO's Consulting Engineering firm. A final decision <br />will be made et the board's February 18, 1993, regularly <br />scheduled meeting. <br />DISCUSSION AMONG THE LRRWMO MEMBERS <br />Upon discussion of the interviewees, the board concurred the <br />final choice for a Consulting Engineer would be between SE$ <br />and Barr Engineering. <br />Jankowski was more in favor of hiring the SEH consultants, <br />feeling that Barr Engineering representatives came to the <br />interview unprepared and inflexible in its rates, speci- <br />fically in the area of allowing financial consideration for a <br />
