A2 Gradation Requirements <br />The aggregate(s) (single and/or composite blends) <br />shall be uniformly graded from coarse to fine and shall meet the <br />following gradation requirements: <br />Percent Passing <br />Sieve Size CS, SS, TT* TT** <br />1/2 Inch 100 100 <br />3/8 Inch ___ ___ <br />No. 4 50-85 60-100 <br />No. 10 ___ ___ <br />No. 40 ___ ___ <br />No. 200 2-10 2_B <br />* Gradation limits for a single aggregate or combination <br />of primary aggregate types or composite blend of <br />aggregate types (primary and secondary aggregate types}. <br />** Gradation limits for 100 percent Taconite Tailings, <br />and Taconite Tailing and secondary aggregate types. <br />A3. Mineral Fi11er...3145 and Hydrated Lime...3106 <br />Mineral filler or hydrated lime may be added in an <br />amount not to exceed 5 percent of the total weight of aggregate. No <br />direct compensation will be made for incorporation of any such <br />additives. <br />A4. Taconite Tailing Sources <br />Taconite tailings shall only be obtained from ore <br />that is mined westerly of a north-south line located two (2) miles <br />east of Biwabik, MN (R15W - R16W); except that, taconite tailings <br />from ore mined in southwestern Wisconsin also will be permitted for <br />use, <br />Approved taconite tailing aggregate sources are as <br />follows: <br />(1) Eleveth Taconite - Forbes, MN. <br />(2) U. S. Steel (Minntac) - Mountain iron, MN. <br />(3) Inland Steel Co. - N. E. of virginia, MN. <br />(4) Butler Taconite (Hannah Mining) - Nashwauk, MN. <br />(5) Jackson County Iron Co. - Jackson County, Wisc. <br />(6) Other sources, located as described above, are <br />subject to the Bituminous Engineer's approval. <br />-2- <br />
