Alternate E
The alignment of alternate E is NW-SE direction and is oriented more
westerly and easterly than the present strip and proposed runway
direction as shown in Exhibits 6 & C.
The wind accommodation for this alignment can be assumed to be not as
desirable as the present direction. However, an analysis of the wind
rose could show that the alignment would meet the required percentage
for a primary runway with no crossway runway necessary. '
The major problem with-this alignment is the necessity to abandon or
reroute County Road 56 from the Highway 10 to the new county road location.
The second problem is the construction of a new building located at or near
the present landing strip terminal area. The third situation would require
the acquisition of the farm and farm property on the west side of CR56.
The above problems relate to the runway itself and not to the approach
areas.
The Clear Zone and Zone B on the southwest have the same problems that
occur in the existing alignment approach area, which relate to the
location of the existing commercial establishments. The northwest approach
area in Zone B overlays a housing development with lots not large enough
to conform to zoning ordinance provisions.
It is our opinion that alternate E alignment would not be feasible as an
alignment fora new Mn/DOT and FAA approved airport facilities site
- 13 -
