I ..,
Brenda Bauerkemper — Pointed out that Ramsey is a statutory City
and statutory means that a majority of Council rules, not a majority
\ of the people. Hopefully this will change as a result of the Charter
election set for May 22, 1984.
Mr. Berry - Appreciates that the airport useage has dropped from
30,000 to 15,000 operations per year.
Bruce Thompson - Use the airport on occasion and have heard if
that airport had not been there, the property would have been on
the State's inventory as a toxic waste site.
Chairman Ippel read from Waste Management Board Hearing Examiner
Record which stated the area as candidate for storage, aqueous
waste and incinerator. Reason for deleting most of the area, north
of Industry Blvd. and west of Gateway, was to' provide buffer to
residents and to exclude airport area.
Brenda Bauerkemper - Incinerator smoke stacks would interfere with
the airport but aqueous waste and transfer storage could still be
allowed.
Chairman Ippel pointed out that the size of the landfill is limited
because of the airport being there.
ADJOURNMENT
The public meeting adjourned at 10:35 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Sylv rol
Secretary
0
AP /May 16, 1984
Public Meeting
