' AIRPORT COMMISSION
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
A public meeting was held by the Ramsey Airport Commission on
' Wednesday, August 22, 1984 at the Ramsey Municipal Center,
15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota.
Members Present: Mr. Jack Ippel, Chairman
Mr. Dennis Donovan
Mr. Dick Sieber
t Mr..Chuck Soderholm
Mr. John Siebert
Mr. Don Greenberg
Mr. Bill Morrow
' Also Present: Mr. Larry Koshak of Hakanson /Anderson Eng.
Mr. Merland Otto of Ralph Burke Associates
' Members Absent: Mr. Ken Patz
' CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Ippel called the public meeting to order at 7:35 p.m','
' PUBLIC MEETING
' Chairman Ippel stated that this meeting is the second in a
series of three being held in conjunction with the development
of an Airport Master Plan and the State is funding 80% of the
cost of the study. This Airport Commission was formed by Council
t to look at what the possibilities would be as far as development
of an airport in the City of Ramsey on the site of the existing
facility. Gateway North is currently a public use /privately
t owned facility and this Commission is exploring the possibility
of making that facility a municipal airport with the City acquiring
property and operation of it. The City has retained engineering
' and consulting firms that are coordinating with agencies in State
and Federal government to determine minimum requirements necessary
to obtain State and Federal funding. So far, this Commission has
identified those requirements and developed a preliminary Airport
t Layout Plan based on State and Federal criteria',- Tonight, we
are simply unveiling that plan and soliciting public comments;
we will then submit these plans and public comments to the
' appropriate agencies for their input. Preliminary cost estimates
and forecast of useage have been prepared and now the Commission
is going to try and determine if there is a compatible situation
' to obtain funding and decide whether the economic return and
benefit to the City would be worth the cost expended.
Mr. Larry Koshak - Stated that the Airport Master Plan is a
combination of data and plans that are compiled on this proposed
airport site. The Airport Layout Plan is a sheet showing the
physical aspects of the airport facility,
AP /August 22, 1984
Public Meeting
