Resident - Bow many homes actually will be bought out?
Mr. Otto - Passed around copies of a reduced version of the airport layout
plan.
Resident - Will the special Airport Meeting in Septemer be open to the public?
Chairman I,e1 - All Council and Commission meetings are open to the public.
Any citizen can approach Council or Commissions during the Citizen Input
portion of their meetings; all regular meeting dates are listed on City Hall's
front door, Cable Channel 10 and Tri-City Newsletter. 'there are no excuses for
not knowing what is going on in the City. As a Commission, it has been very
disappointing to conduct meetings and the citizens have not been interested
enough to attend the meetings. The Tri-City Newsletter also contains condensed
Council and Commission minutes; the information is there if the people want to
avail themselves of it.
Jim Runs - 7261 152nd Ave NW - I am one of the guilty citizens, as far as
getting involved in City issues. The last meeting I attended was the landfill
hearing at Ramsey Elementary. The citizens have only themselves to blare for
letting this issue get as far as it has. If we want to fight this airport, we
will all have to attend meetings; it may be too late but we all have to commit
ourselves to letting the City know whatever we feel about the airport. I think
there is a better way to bring economic development to the City rather than
with an airport. If an airport is a beautiful plum, why aren't cities lined up
begging for airports.
Mr. Harland Otto - Rush City, Princeton, St. James, New Ulm and Dodge Center
all have something in common. They realized that they could not maintain
status quo and each of these cities made a decision to pursue additional
business in their community and part of that pursuit has been in improving
their airports. Ramsey's is not an isolated case.
Dave Chapman - 16042 Ramsey Blvd. - I think the members of the Airport
Commission are a good representation of Ramsey's citizens; I believe they have
good judgement and I will abide by their recommendation and decision. I have
lived in Ramsey 15 years and you must realize the progress cannot be stopped.
Progress will happen whether you like it or not and that progress might as well
be developed by us rather than having Metro Council get involved. I think the
airport would be of great benefit to the community. I came to this decision 4
years ago whey my company ran an ad for a secretary and a bookkeeper; received
125 calls in response to the ad.
Rita Skold - 15410 Marmoset - Neither ny husband nor myself want to see this
airport go through. We want Ramsey to expand but we think there is a better
way than with an airport. There are communities growing without airports.
The Commission set a special meeting date of Tuesday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m.
at City Ball.
Sharon Mager - Will the Airport Qamission be making their recommendation at
that special meeting.
August 21, 1985
