Consent # 5 ~'~ <br />REPORT FROM PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Interim Human Resources Representative <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Personnel Committee met Tuesday, July 13, 2010 to discuss the following cases: <br />CITIZEN INPUT: <br />There was none. <br />APPROVE AGENDA: <br />Motion to approve the agenda as submitted. <br />Case 1 Authorization to Hire Paid-on-call Firefighters <br />Background: <br />The Committee discussed the details of the case. It was originally planned to bring this case <br />forward for City Council consideration on July 27, 2010; however, due to Chief Kapler's need to <br />expedite the process he requested to have the case heard on the regulaz agenda later in the evening. <br />Councilmember Jeffrey asked if both of the new firefighters aze eligible for the Nowthen <br />reimbursement, Chief Kapler responded that one of the two new firefighters is assigned to the <br />Nowthen station and therefore eligible for reimbursement through the joint powers agreement. <br />Chair Dehen, Councilmember Jeffrey and Councilmember McGlone all agreed on the case as <br />submitted. <br />Motion to recommend that the City Council approve the case as submitted. <br />Action: <br />No action required. This case was immediately brought to City Council following the Personnel <br />Committee for approval. <br />Council Action: <br />Based on recommendation of from the Personnel Committee and discussion by the City Council. <br />Case 2 Authorization to Establish a Three Ste Intern Wage Scale. <br />Background: <br />The Committee discussed the case and Councilmember McGlone asked what circumstances justify <br />giving raises earlier than the normal schedule. Ms. Lasher reported that in certain situations, such as <br />the City's current situation with the Economic Development Coordinator's resignation, increased <br />duties and responsibilities were placed on the current intern that were outside of her current <br />
