7.06: Approve Custom Remodelers, Inc. 474 Apollo Drive, Lino Lakes, MN 55014 <br />Peddler/Solicitor/T'ransient Merchant License Application <br />Police Chief Way reviewed the staff report. He noted there were issues with the criminal <br />histories of some of the people they were proposing to license, but he would not deny the issuing <br />of the permit for the company. He indicated he needed additional time. <br />City Attorney Goodrich stated the City had to be careful on the qualification. He noted there was <br />a State Statute that had to be followed by the City, which he reviewed for the Council. <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Wise, to approve Custom <br />Remodelers, Inc., 474 Apollo Drive, Lino Lakes, MN 55014, Peddler/Solicitor/Transient <br />Merchant License Application on the condition that the Police Chief was allowed to review all <br />applicants that would be going door to door and approve those applicants on an individual, case- <br />by-case basis. <br />Further discussion: Council discussed the property owners' rights and the peddler's rights. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Ramsey, Councilmembers Elvig, Wise, Dehen, Look, and <br />McGlone: Voting No: None. Councilmember Jeffrey. <br />7.07: Adopt Resolution #10-08-XXX for a Public Hearing on Proposed Assessment for <br />Improvement Project #08-33 (Ute Street Improvements) <br />Public Works Director Olson reviewed the staff report. <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Mayor Ramsey, to adopt Resolution #10-08- <br />193A for a Public Hearing on Proposed Assessment for Improvement Project #08-33 (Ute Street <br />Improvements) <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Ramsey, Councilmembers Elvig, Dehen, Look, McGlone, <br />and Wise. Voting No: None. Councilmember Jeffrey. <br />8. Variance <br />Councilmember McGlone noted there had been some action at the State Supreme Court <br />regarding variances. He asked if a moratorium could be put in place on variances until <br />this was sorted out so the City knew exactly what could and could not be done. Planning <br />Associate Gladhill noted staff had a staff report on this, which was scheduled at a future <br />City Council /August 24, 2010 <br />Page 11 of 13 <br />
