Councilmember Jeffrey felt they would not be interested in paying more money <br />Councilmember Dehen stated he is fine with this. We do need to start thinking forward with <br />what we need to have for Public Works. He stated he is not advocating for building a new <br />building right now but we certainly need the land. <br />Councilmember McGlone stated he would be interested in contacting them. . <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that the EPB has been asked to look at composting but he did not <br />know if that is an appropriate spot. ' <br />Councilmember Look agreed staff should talk to them and ask if they are willing to change the <br />lease. <br />City Attorney Goodrich stated we could ask him to pay taxes so if they go down, he pays less - <br />ifthey go up - he pays more. <br />Councilmember McGlone agreed that would be good so it doesn't cost us anything. <br />Councilmember Elvig suggested we lease back four acres. <br />Consensus was to split the difference - we will take four or five acres of the property. <br />2) Water Treatment Plant <br />Director of Public Works Olson stated that in 2004, the City did a water supply plan. We were <br />given three additional wells as long as we agreed to look at surface water. We did a study in <br />2006/2007. He presented the conclusions and the recommendations. The City Council directed <br />staff to move forward with athree-phase water recycle project. The purpose for tonight's case is <br />to see if what we are doing still make sense. <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if the location of this was going to be just south of the fire station to <br />which Mr. Olson replied yes. <br />Councilmember Elvig commented on the cost - it was to be $50 million -then $20 million. <br />Mr. Olson stated he did not remember it being $50 million. The difference was because we have <br />built six, seven and eight -the difference between a $14 million water treatment plant. We were <br />so close to needing a groundwater treatment plan. <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that he understood the DNR would not let us go past well #8. We <br />did a lot of testing. <br />Mr. Olson stated that it's not that there isn't any migration -the soil's just not consistent <br />Discussion ensued about direct water supply. <br />City Council Work Session /August 9, 2010 <br />Page 4 of 7 <br />
