Feasibility Report
Bunker Lake Boulevard Extension
City of Ramsey
In accordance with the Comprehensive Plan, an 18 -inch sanitary sewer would be extended
westward in Bunker Lake Boulevard a distance of approximately 3,800 feet to Puma
Street. This line will provide service to the school campus, as well as future development
that may occur on the south side of Bunker Lake Boulevard, and could be further extended
in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan.
B. Water Distribution and Supply Improvements
Because the initial watermain extension will not be looped, a 16 -inch watermain will be
required in order to provide sufficient water supply to the school campus development.
Watermain will be extended across Armstrong Boulevard through a steel casing from the
existing main on the east side of Armstrong and then westward in Bunker Lake Boulevard
to Puma Street, a distance of approximately 3,800 feet.
Water usage in the Alpha Development is projected to be approximately 1,000 gallons per
day per acre. This usage rate is in agreement with the Comprehensive Plan for the City of
Ramsey. A summer usage peaking factor of 3.0 is likely in order to maintain attractive
landscaping and an inviting atmosphere. Storm water reuse for landscaping needs should
be considered in order to reduce the summer demand of the proposed development on the
water supply system. Long term supply of water for the City of Ramsey is not addressed
in this report.
In the future, this trunk watermain can be extended north to Alpine Drive via Puma Street
to provide future looping and water to unserviced areas and future developments. A
future water main loop will reduce pressure drops during high demand periods and
improve water quality by eliminating the long dead-end run of trunk water main. Loops
within the development will be utilized to promote reliability and functional flexibility as
well as promoting fresh water moving throughout the system.
Elevated storage for the City of Ramsey is adequate to provide fire flow to the
development. The distribution system is adequate to move the water from the City's three
towers to the proposed development area.
Prepared By: R16.102774
Bolton & Menk, Inc. November 2010
