Feasibility Report
Bunker Lake Boulevard Extension
City of Ramsey
inch bituminous overlay.
The proposed Phase I two-lane design will be located within the right-of-way to
provide future flexibility in roadway expansion with minimal modifications to what
will be constructed. The north curb is recommended to be placed 34 feet north of the
right-of-way centerline. With future mirrored construction on the south side of the
right-of-way, this would accommodate five 12 -feet lanes with a 4 -feet curb reaction
area, plus adequate boulevard areas for additional right turn lane incorporation.
Ultimate expansion of the road to two through -lanes in each direction with dedicated
left and right turn lanes will need to be evaluated as additional development occurs.
2. Puma Street
Improvements to Puma Street are not part of the petition, but have been evaluated at
the City's request because of the requirement to extend Bunker Lake Boulevard to
Puma Street, a distance of about one-half mile.
Two options have been evaluated for Puma Street improvements. The first is a
minimum improvement whereby the existing roadway is widened from its current 18
feet width to 24 feet and paved with 2 -inches of bituminous.
The second option is a cursory analysis to perform a more significant upgrade to the
road to a 32 -feet wide street with curb and gutter with full base and pavement
improvement.
3. Bituminous Trails
A 10 -feet wide bituminous trail along the north side of the Bunker Lake Boulevard
improvement has been included in the Phase I improvement. In addition, cursory
evaluations of trail improvements along Armstrong Boulevard and Puma Street have
been provided in the cost analysis. A trail along the west side of the Armstrong
Boulevard right-of-way has a number of issues to be considered related to wetland
impacts, tree removal, grading and retaining walls as depicted on Figure 7.
6
Prepared By: R16.102774
Bolton & Menk, Inc.
