Commissioner Van Scoy questioned the main entrance being oriented to the north. <br />Mr. Giordana stated in this climate, a south entrance would be preferred, but with the setback <br />requirements, it had to be oriented to the northeast. <br />Motion by Commissioner Cleveland; seconded by Commissioner Van Scoy to recommend that <br />City Council approve the sketch plan and preliminary site plan contingent upon compliance with <br />the City Staff Review Letter dated September 9, 2010. <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Levine, Commissioners Cleveland, Van Scoy, and <br />Brauer. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Dunaway, and Rogers. <br />Case #5: Request for Sketch Plan Review for Legacy Christian Academy; Case of <br />Legacy Christian Academy <br />Presentation <br />Planning Manager Miller presented the staff report. <br />Board Business <br />Commissioner Brauer left the meeting at 8:25 p.m. <br />Planning Manager Miller showed where the different zoning areas were located within the sketch <br />plan. <br />Dave Anderson, Frauenshuh, Inc. stated they were going to give the Planning Commission an <br />introduction to the site and Christian Academy tonight. <br />Casey Breen, Chair of the Advisory Council of Legacy Christian Academy, introduced Legacy <br />Christian Academy. <br />Mr. Anderson presented the highlights of the sketch plan and concept, and described the <br />development phases. He shared their concern of placing a trail along the wetland area on a <br />school campus with small children. <br />Chairperson Levine stated he understands their concern and asked what alternatives would be for <br />where the trail is currently platted. <br />City Engineer Tim Himmer stated the applicants have offered some solutions and Staff will be <br />talking more with the applicants regarding this matter. It is a comp plan issue, and the <br />experiences are different with a trail along a wetland versus along a paved road. <br />Planning Manager Miller stated Staff is interested and willing to work with the applicant to see <br />this project succeed. <br />Special Planning Commission/September 16, 2010 <br />Page 7 of 9 <br />
