I I I I I I I I I 1.2 The apparatus shall be equipped with a Diesel Engine with a minimum of 470 bhp. 1.2.1 A thermostatically controlled clutch fan shall be installed in the' engine cooling system to maintain the engine temperature in cold weather. 1.2.2 High idle actuator switches will be provided to maintain a preset engine rpm. Switches will be located a cab instrument panel, lower (stabilizer) control station, turntable control console and platform console. 1.3 The transmission shall be an Allison World, push button, automatic transmission. 1.4 A transmission retarder:, activated by the accelerator pedal, shall be provided to meet NFPA auxiliary breaking requirement. 1.5 The chassis shall be equipped With a single front axle and a tandem rear axle with an axle suspension and brake system properly sized to carry the load of the completed apparatus. 1.6 ABS brake system shall be provided. 1.6.1 Full air brakes are required with heated automatic moisture ejector and automatic slack adjusters. 1.7 Engine air cleaner shall be removable and disposable, dry type element approved by the city maintenance mechanic. 1.8 The air compressor and tank supplied shall be the largest size available. 1.9 Alternator shall have a rated output of 290 amps minimum. (or sized with the approval of the city maintenance mechanic) 1.10 Oil seals with viewing windows provided on each side of front axle. 1.11 Exhaust piping' shall exit on passenger side of vehicle"ai~ead of rear wheels. 1.12 Tires shall have highway thread on 'frOnt, rear Shall have mud and snow thread. Rear dual tires shall be equipped with a fill devise to facilitate filling from the outside of vehicle. All tires shall be capable of carrying load. 1.13 Separate Bid: Aluminum wheels shaft be provided with full circular wheel well liners. 1.14 A shut-off valve shall be installed in the fuel line near the filter. -309-
