-I16- Councilmember adoption. introduced the following resolution and moved for it's RESOLUTION # 02-11-XXX RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF RAMSEY TO HIRE A HEARING OFFICER TO PRESIDE OVER ALCOHOL AND TOBACC° VIOLATION HEARINGS. WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department performed alcohol compliance checks on all businesses that sell alcohol and tobacco within the City; and WHEREAS, six businesses failed the compliance cheCk by selling alcohol to underage parties and seven businesses failed compliance checks performed for tobacco by selling to underage parties; and WHEREAS, one Of the businesses that failed the tobacco check has requested a heari.ng on the matter; and WHEREAS, staff is requesting to hire Attorney Ban'y Sullivan to act as a heating officer for the remainder of 2002 and 2003 for any violation hearings with the cost not to exceed five hundred dollars per hearing. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: The Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes hiring of Barry Sullivan to act as a hearing officer for alcohol and tobacco violations in 2002 and 2003. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon, The following voted in favor thereof: And the following voted against: And the following abstained: And the following were absent: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this 12th day of November 2002.
