-154- City Attorney Goodrich replied that that was not true. Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the CiV Attorney was sure. City Attorney Goodrich replied yes. Councilmember Hendriksen stated that if the initial period is not to exceed one year and you can extend it for up to 18 months that is for 30 years. If they start at 90 days and they c:m extend up to 18 months he believed the City Attorney has taken the position that the maximum time would be less than 30 months. City Attorney Goodrich replied that that was. not the case. Councilmember Hendriksen replied that he believed that theCity Attorney had ruled differently in the past. City Attorney Goodrich stated that the Council needed to discuss the parameters of the moratorium. Mayor Gamec stated that he would have no problem with improvements being .?lone on existing structure, but he would not agree to any new construction. Community Development Director Frolik inquired if any project that has already received sit~': plan approval would be able to move forward with t~,eir project. Mayor Gamec replied that that was correct. Councilmember Zimmerman agreed that improvements on existing structures shOuld be allowed.. but not new construction. Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he wants to see the moratorium be in place for 12 months and than they reduce it if appropriate.
