-52- <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to recommend that the City <br />Council authorize the hiring of Todd Marlette for the position of full-time Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker at a starting wage of $15.0364/hour plus benefits and two weeks vacation, <br />contingent upon successful completion of employment physical and drug/alcohol screen. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if they were replacing staff not <br />increasing staff. Director of Public Works/Fire ChiefKapler replied yes. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, <br />Kurak, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Authorize Hiring of Accounting Clerk <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that at the regular City Council meeting of March 12, <br />2002, the City Council accepted the resignation of the Accounting Clerk and authorized the <br />recruitment process to fill the position. The position was posted internally, there were no internal <br />applicants. The position was advertised externally and 39 applications were received. The <br />applications were reviewed and six candidates were interviewed by a panel consisting of the <br />Finance Officer, Finance Supervisor, and a representative from Labor Relations. Based on the <br />panel's recommendation, staff recommended the hiring of Nancy Hinrich for the position of <br />Accounting Clerk. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendfiksen, seconded by Mayor Gamec, to recommend that the City <br />Council authorize hiring Nancy Hinrich for the position of full-time Accounting Clerk at a <br />starting wage of $15.9335/hour plus benefits and txvo weeks vacation, contingent on successful <br />completion of background checks, employment physical, and drug/alcohol screen. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the accounting clerk position would <br />be higher then an accounting clerk II position. Finance Officer Lurid replied that there is no such <br />thing as an account clerk II position. Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if there was an <br />accounting clerk II position would it be a higher position than an accounting clerk. Assistant <br />City Administrator replied that if there was such a position it would be higher than the <br />accounting clerk position. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, <br />Kurak, and Zirmnerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: Authorize Hiring of Clerk II <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated at the regular City Council meeting of March 12, <br />2002, the City Council authorized the termination of the Clerk II and authorized the recruitment <br />process to fill the position. The position was posted internally and there were no internal <br />applicants. The position was advertised externally and 13 applications were received.
