December, 2001 Drc~

Future Sanitary Sewer Services

Future facilities and flowage
Future sewer facilities are expected to serve new commercial, industrial ~nd
residential development within existing and future areas of the Metropolitan Urban
Services Axea (MUSA) boundary. The NIUSA boundary is planned to be e~ended in
a westerty direction along Highwa7 I0~ ~~ili~iliiii~i~iiii~iiii~

be extended to these areas. General locations and routes for potential trunk sarfitary
sewer pipes are illustrated in Figure VIII-1. It is intended that individual
devetopmen~ will tie into ~ese mink lines and that the tzunk Lines will be built in
accordance with the development staging plan as can be seen in Figure V-3.

Future wastewater flowage will be primahly generated in the Mississippi R/vet Sewer
District as this is where the bulk of vacant land plarmcd for urban development is
located. In.fill development will create some additional flowagu within the Rum River
~$ewer District az well. The following tables project future wasterwater flowage for
each sewer district by land use category, and development stage. These figures
represent projections based on when sewer and water services are expected to be
extended and correspond with the development staging plan. These figures do not
indicate acme/ development numbers, however, they project wastewater fIowage
based on the proposed land use plan in order to adequately size the municipal sewer
system.

Table VIII-4 Projected Wastewater Flows to the year 2020.

cern ..... mndusma anstimt onal r .... s~ [ ~00 0 3901{ 4~0{ 0 5Sat 6¢0~ , 0 8q~ (. 890 1 040 , ~EOJ .I. 105

Cqmmerciamn~a~ialanstmton,airqFm=} [ 100{ QI30 120{ 0.1561 130 ., 0.1691~ 14OI 0JO:I ~a~ 0.189

-314-

[Currumutatlve ~ow, ,rlviGD'l [ [ 0.9~7{ ! Residential flows are based
on an esmnated 270 gallons per day per hotming umt. Commercial absorption is estimated at
45 acres the Rum River District and 550 acres in the Mississippi River Sewer District.
Commercial flows are based on an estimate of t,.300 gallons per day per acres of
commercial/industrial/institutional development.

I
I
I

Ramsey Comprehensive ?!an-Sanitary Sewer Chapter

Page VIII-3

I
I
