-444- <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE # 03- <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 3.20, WHICH IS KNOWN AS THE <br />PERSONNEL POLICY OF THE CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA. <br /> <br />An ordinance to amend Chapter 3.20 of the City Code, titled "Personnel Policy" by the <br />addition of 3.20.24, titled "Criminal History Background Investigations." <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Amendment <br /> <br />The following text is hereby incorporated into Chapter 3.20, Personnel Policy, of the City <br />Code. <br /> <br />Section 3.20 Personnel Policy <br /> <br />Section 3.20.24 Criminal History Backgronnd Investigations <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. Authority <br /> <br /> Mi~mesota Statute, Section 13.87, authorizes city police departments to conduct <br />criminal history background investigations on applicants for City positions using <br />Minnesota Computerized Criminal History data. <br /> <br />Subdivision 2. Applications <br /> <br /> This section applies only to applicants who are finalists for regular, temporary and <br />volunteer status positions. Before the investigation is undertaken the applicant must <br />authorize the Police Department in writing to undertake the investigation and to release <br />the information to the City Council, City Administrator, and/or other City staff as <br />appropriate. <br /> <br />Subdivision 3. Rejection of Applications <br /> <br /> Except in the case of exceptions set forth in Minnesota Statutes Section 364.09, as <br />may be amended fi'om time to time, if the City rejects an application for employment due <br />partly or solely to the applicant's prior conviction ora crime which relates directly to tl~e <br />position sought, the City's Human Resources Manager will notify the applicant in writing <br />of the following: <br /> <br />the grounds and reasons for denial; <br />the applicant complaint and grievance procedure set forth in Minnesota <br />Statute Section 364.06, as may be amended from time to time; <br /> <br /> <br />
