Case #3: Update on C.R. #116 Median Extension :7:-

Background:
On July 2, 2003 Staff sent the County a letter requesting A_noka Comity to pursue the installation
of a right mm lane for eastbound CR 116 at /ts intersection with T.H. 47. Stal'£ received a
response from the Count3, En~neer explaining that there is adequate room to make a U-tm2q with
the current conditions. It was also discussed that Mn/DOT verbally discussed with Staff that
sig-nalization at 142nd Avenue would be considered if it met the warranty identified in the Manual
on Uniform Tra£fic Control devices and that a left turn lane at Blue Velvet Lane would not
conform to the Departments geometric standards. P,3ver's Bend Plaza has also requested that
some informational sig-nage be posted on T.H. 47 to better inform travelers on how to get into the
center and that sig-nage advising motorist that U-turns at southbound to northbound T.H.47 and
westbound to east CR 116 are permitted. Staff is waiting for a response from Anoka County and
Mn/DOT on both of these requests.

Consensus of the Public Works Committee was to not proceed with a warrant study for 147d
Avenue and T.H. #47.

Action:
Ratify the consensus of the Public Works Committee.

Case #4: Sub-Zoning in the Industrial District

Background:
Councilmember Elvig stated that the City is currently working on redeveloping some areas in the
industrial p ark and it appears that s omc o f the requests h ave t o d o with o uts/de storage. He
suggested doing an overlay of the existing industrial park and identi~, areas where the City
would allow outside storage and areas where they do not.

Consensus of the Committee was to forward the issue to the Plmming Corrm2ission.

Action:
Rati~ the consensus of the Public Works Committee.

Case #5: Speed Limit Controls at Ramsey Elementary

Background:
Police Chief Way had r eceived a letter regarding a traffic light in front of the school to help
reduce the speed with the ctzildren walking to school. Councilmember Elvig suggested that a
flashing Iight be installed in front of the school by the County. Councilmember Elvig requested
that Staff notify them of the time of the next meeting and have the item placed on the County
agenda.

Action:
Noti~ the Committee of the next County Public Works con~-nittee rneeting and have the item
placed on the agenda.

-200-
