April 6, 2000

Ramsey Planning Commission
15153 Nowthen Blvd N.W.
Ramsey, MN 55303

RE: Ace Solid Waste Conditional Use Permit

To Whom It May Concern:

As a business owner on Highway 10, I am in receipt ora letter from the City of Ramsey advising
me of a public hearing regarding a conditional use permit application from Ace Solid Waste for a
solid waste transfer station. After reviewing the limited information enclosed with the
notification, I reit a letter was necessary .....

I
I

I

I

I have a number of concerns regarding the issuance of this permit. The first concern I have is how
wilt this type of business affect my property value. I cannot see it as being an advantage, which
leads me to believe that a waste transfer station would considerably lower my property value.

Another concern I have is the lack of information that was disclosed with the letter and
accompanying paperwork. There was no mention of any hazardous waste or the handling of such
sensitive materials. This should be a major concern for both the adjacent business owners as well
as the City itself. Has this issue been addressed and if it has why was the information on the
handling of it not included in the notice?

Thirdly, prior to starting my business I met with city officials and was turned down when I
inquired about a conditional use permit for outside storage. I then had to change my original
business plan because I was told that no deviation from the original expansion plans would be
: 'considered. Why then, after four years, are the city officials considering issuing a conditional use
permit for a waste transfer station, which I believe is more detrimental to the City image than my
outside storage would have been?

As it stands, I would like to be counted as opposing the issuance of this conditional use permit. I
do not believe that this type of business is in any way beneficial to either the City of Ramsey nor
the current and future business owners.

Anchors Away/Ramsey Quick Lube

JD:vjk

I
I

I
I
I

6745 W.
